Bride of Careful-ish

If your wedding venue cancels your wedding but keeps your deposit, and your parents continue badmouthing your fiancée, who keeps jabbing at you about your weight, would you think the universe was trying to tell you something?
Kimi sure does. Her friends disagree. But why do they get a say?
For better or for worse, over the course of lockdown in New York City, these six diverse friends have become entrenched in each other’s lives—including their daily struggles, questionable choices, very public falls from grace, not-so-secret sex lives, and impressive cocktail skills.
The Joy, Kimi’s eccentric, bottle-blond roommate, went to Florida to take care of her mother. That’s when Carmen, Kimi’s latina fiancée moved in. Now, commitment-phobic Kimi feels her impending marriage is doomed. Her old-school Chinese Catholic parents are adding more stress, wanting her to marry a dentist, preferably one who pees standing up. Kimi’s friends might be more help if they weren’t all battling their own demons.
Who has the biggest challenge, anyway? Is it white suburban Benji? He’s trying to keep his social tics at bay and save his relationship with his Arab girlfriend who’s an outsider artist—and sister of his good buddy. Or is it Shad? The African American financial genius who is too status-focused for the liking of his new girlfriend, a building-maintenance handyperson. How about Steph? A nice Jewish girl turned news reporter, she’s trying to save her career after public shaming in social media for her uncareful-ish party antics.
Maybe the winner in the “Hell To Pay” sweepstakes is Steph’s boyfriend, Jackson. An Arab ne’er-do-well, he’s living big in his parents’ palatial Park-Avenue apartment. His folks are locked down in the UAE, so he’s throwing parties, having sex in their bed with his Jewish girlfriend, and training like a beast on a ninja gym he’s built throughout their home. How will they find out? (Whoops! Guess who’s home…)

Who goes to jail? Better yet, who doesn’t? How many survive a Valentine’s Day for the record books? Will anyone actually ever get married?
