Under the Salvadoran Sun
Listing Details
Angela, a mature artist, mother, and widow from Seattle, Washington, travels to El Salvador after the death of her husband. There she must confront old memories of a past affair when she runs into her past lover, Liam O'Connor. Filled with familial conflict, questions of faith, and self-interest versus true humanitarianism, the story confronts the issues of immigration without proselytizing a solution as Angela and her lover help a Salvadoran mother and her young daughter on a journey to join the father, an undocumented worker in California. The journey is rife with unexpected events and characters, including an irreverent nun, Salvadoran gangs, and a Guatemalan curandero (healer) to name a few.
