A Wounded Hero
As a firefighter, Jaxson Anderson is well acquainted with danger. He’s charged into burning buildings to rescue men and women, young and old. He’s scaled ladders that towered over blistering infernos, and defied blazes that terrified lesser men.
Fire? He understands. Women? Not so much. Now there’s some real danger. He should know. He’s been burned before.
He’s not interested in romance, or the perils that come with it. His priority is caring for his two small boys, and making his mark as the new fire chief of Sawyer, but everything changes the day he catches sight of Sugar, the pretty girl who works at the local bakery. Sugar is exactly what he wants: A fun, no-strings distraction. A friends-with-benefits arrangement that won’t break what’s left of his heart.
A Battered Heart
On the heels of an abusive marriage, Sugar Stonemyer is done with men. But when Jaxson Anderson strolls into the bakery with a very wicked offer, she can’t resist. One look at the fireman, and Sugar knows the Sawyer rumor mills haven’t exaggerated. Jaxson’s tall, dark, and smokin’ hot. He wants an arrangement, nothing more, and that’s perfect.
Or so she thought.
With each slow seduction, Sugar falls a little more. She has only herself to blame. She didn’t want either of them to have feelings, but that’s not how the game is played…

Top Customer Reviews 5.0 out of 5 starsI really enjoyed this book By Ben I really enjoyed this book even though I had not read the previous book The Paladin Project: A Legend is Born (The Paladin Project Chronicles Book 1) I soon caught up with the characters and who was who, but I do advise readers to read the previous books to gain even more enjoyment from this edition. The characters are very well written and all move through an interesting plot concerning the sinister antics of the mysterious Shadow man. Though I thought a couple of events were over too quickly and with a bit of a rewrite, extra tension and excitement could be added to the story, that is my humble opinion, but it did not distract from the story. I liked that it was set in Scotland, a country I have visited and driven through many times. The author has captured the settings and atmosphere of the locations the book is set in, adding to my reading pleasure. I can highly recommend this book so give it a try as it's a little gem waiting to be discovered. I received this book free and though I was under no obligation to leave a review I enjoyed the book and so I have shared my experience here.

Mmm. Shoot an apple off his friend’s head or lose his food, horse and clothes? Some decisions require little thought.
Archer is the sort of boy things happen to. Orphaned as a baby, his gifts make him different to other kids. He doesn't understand why he's so much stronger and faster than other boys; why a sword feels so right in his hand; or how every arrow he looses at a target will hit the centre, even if his eyes are closed.
At the Beltane ritual, he must fight his friends to see who is most worthy. But his real battle is with an enemy whose callous disrespect for the natural order brings dangerous consequences.
This swashbuckling romantic fantasy will appeal to fans of action-adventure, jousting and magical realism. For fans of “A Knight’s Tale,” “Merlin” and “Robin Hood,” this is book #1 in a 5-book adventure series.

"I never thought I would have reason to say to someone, 'Sorry I’m late, it took longer to dismember the goat than originally planned.'" I was twenty-six years old, worked at a well-paid job, rented a fantastic apartment, and enjoyed a large circle of friends. I had everything, except I didn’t. I couldn’t shake the feeling I was missing out on the experience of living. Part guidebook on culture and travel, part journey of self-discovery, this travelogue takes you on a backpacking adventure through Nepal and Thailand and provides a firsthand account of one volunteer’s experience teaching in a Nepali school and living with a devout Brahmin family. Trek with me through the bamboo forests and terraced mountaintops of eastern Nepal, take a wild river-rafting ride in class IV waters, go on an elephant ride and encounter a charging rhinoceros on jungle walks in Chitwan National Park, sea-kayak the surreal waters of Krabi, and snorkel in the Gulf of Thailand. Join me on some of the scariest bus rides you could imagine, explore beautiful and intriguing temples, experience religious rituals unknown to most Westerners, and visit mind-blowing places not mentioned in your typical travel guides. Notes of a Naive Traveler is a must-read for those interested in learning more about – or wishing to travel to – Nepal and Thailand. I hope it inspires you to see these amazing countries for yourself. Included in this book are twenty-five photos of Nepal and Thailand I took during my journey. This ...

But upon arrival at Leita, they find the community to be empty, the shops and houses lying quiet. Before too long, they find disturbing evidence of violence and mayhem. They get some of the story when they find three survivors holed up in a farmhouse, but the tale they tell is almost unbelievable--a grisly story of ritual cannibalism, blood sacrifice, and a ram's skull that makes its wearer both invincible and irresistible. Soon they are in a fight for their lives, as the ram takes control of the island. Can they stop it and prevent it from spreading? Or will the ancient magic of the ram prevail and take its bloody promises to the mainland, and to the town that is waiting to be shown its glory?

She hates her job in airport security, making people take their belts off before they fly to exotic locations she can only dream about. She owns a small apartment with large repayments, drinks bargain bin red while she watches Star Trek, and misses her little sister, lost to an exploding sandwich press ten years ago. Scharlette fears she might live out her entire existence without doing anything or mattering to anyone. It still comes as quite a surprise when a handsome time traveller named Tomothy appears out of nowhere and verifies she is correct – that, according to his records, she doesn’t matter at all. Scharlette isn’t sure this news is as wonderful as Tomothy seems to think but, as he explains, since her life was to have no impact on the timeline whatsoever, Scharlette is free to travel time and space, and have amazing adventures with heedless abandon. “The book is charming and riotously funny. The most enjoyable aspect of the story is its unpredictability.” – Aurealis Magazine “It’s hard to describe why this book is good without spoiling a single part of it.” – Two Doctors Media Collaborative

With no country recognising Rhodesia, they are desperate for trade. David Tusk, a former Air Force pilot and now a successful accountant at the only non-British- controlled bank in South Africa, is ‘asked’ by his superiors to help break the embargo. We are the Night Vigil. The run-down convenience store, the all-night diner, the last-ditch shelter, or seedy motel, the redneck bar and the emergency room, and all the other places open on the graveyard shift—they’re Hell’s hunting grounds, full of easy marks and desperate souls, prey for evil things out there in the dark. We keep the Vigil, looking for the ones who can still be saved, the ones who aren’t too far gone. We’re the misfits and the muck-ups, unwanted by Heaven or Hell, given one last chance to atone for all the mistakes and missed chances, the pain we’ve caused others and ourselves, the good things we were afraid to do, and the bad things we embraced with open arms. We work the night shift because that’s when evil walks. We’re the clerk in the all-night liquor store, the server in the 24-hour diner, the long-haul trucker who only drives at night, the counter person in the convenience store, the dog shift nurse. We recognize the evil when we see it, and we use the skills we honed with blood and fire to stop it, whatever it takes. Unfinished business ties us to the mortal world, to make atonement, find absolution, satisfy retribution, get things right. You won’t find a sorrier group of halfway house heroes. No illusions left—about ourselves, humanity, or what’s really out there in the darkness. Just a purpose, to go down fighting the good fight. Because this is our last chance. One final chance to make it right, the thin red line of humanity against the evil that ...
