Sheryl Kyle was tired of men and the problems they created in her life. She had created her own defenses against the men who had disappointed and hurt her and she had her own life and plans all laid out.
Then tough and rugged Mark Andrews dropped into the bar where she worked and into her life asking her to come back with him to Sweet Creek to find a way to reconcile with the her dying stepfather, the very man who had created the first disappointments in her life.
She resists, but when she loses her job, her back is to the wall so she comes back to Sweet Creek. Only for a few days. Mark, however, sees a hurt behind the hard, cynical surface Sheryl is hiding behind. And he’s hoping that with patience and caring he can find a way to make her stay.
