You can help your dog live longer and feel better by keeping him or her at a healthy weight.
Excess weight can shorten your dog’s life and increase his or her risk of developing health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis. This short e-book will help you to determine if your dog is overweight and explain how to help your dog lose weight, if needed, with diet and exercise. Included are a number of links to helpful resources such as a Dog Body Condition Score illustration, a chart of Ideal Weight Ranges of Some Popular Dog Breeds, and links to Slow Feed Dog Bowls and Food Puzzle Toys to make mealtime last longer and make your dog feel like he or she is getting a larger quantity of food.
This book has a section on fun exercise options for your dog including options that enable both you and your dog to get a workout such as walking, Canine Musical Freestyle (dancing with your dog – it’s a lot easier than you think!), and tracking (dogs love to track, and they know how to do it instinctively). These are fun things to do with your dog whether your dog is overweight or not!
Exercise options for your dog that do not require you to exert yourself are also included such as playing fetch or frisbee, Boomer balls (oversized balls for your dog to chase around the yard), and swimming. Links are provided to some great YouTube videos in this section that I am sure you will enjoy.
This book is excerpted from Chapter 2 of my book titled Dog Health Care: 7 Simple Ways To Keep Your Dog Healthy. Because so many people have told me how much they appreciated the information presented in this chapter, I decided to make it available as a stand-alone short e-book. If you enjoy this book and find it helpful, I hope that you will go on to purchase and read my full book (available in both e-book and paperback on Amazon).
